Tree Removal Arborist Sacramento

Tree Removal Arborist in El Dorado Hills

Tree removal is one of those jobs that sounds simpler than it is. Movies, TV shows, commercials, and even power tool manufacturers would have you believe that all you have to do to cut down a tree is pull out your handy chainsaw, start it up, and start cutting down the tree (oh we wish it was that easy!).

Our Process

  1. Check for obstacles
  2. Check the tree lean
  3. Check for dead branches
  4. Check for dead spots or rotting

Actually, tree removal and tree stump removal is not as easy as it sounds. First, if you want to remove a tree at your home or office, you may need a permit to even begin. The second thing you need to worry about is where you want the tree to fall. If you can work with the direction the tree is already leaning, this will make your job a lot easier. But if the fallen tree is leaning towards your home or office building–then you have to get it to fall the other way so that it will be safe.

You also have to figure out where you are going to stand to stay safe when the tree falls. If a tree falls on you, you could be seriously injured or even killed. Even the most experienced arborists sometimes get hurt cutting a tree down. We have seen it a hundred times, where a home or business owner has started the tree removal process and ends up calling us. Saving a few dollars is not worth endangering your life. Tree removal safety is one of the most important aspects of this industry and DIY projects are very prone to injury and damages.

Our Tree Removal Process

To make the tree fall in the direction we want it to, we first cut out a wedge-shaped chunk from the side of the tree that you want it to fall toward. Then we start sawing the tree down from the other side. You have to place wedges in the trunk as you cut it so that the trunk does not settle back down on your chainsaw and cause it to lock on your chain saw, then you’re really in big trouble.

Then, when the tree starts to fall, we have many safety harnesses which force the tree in one direction. Trees can change the direction that they are falling halfway down, so just because it is starting to fall one way that does not mean it isn’t going to turn. It is better to be in full control, rather than running for dear life and hoping a tree doesn’t fall on yours. Trust us, you can’t out-run a tree. But making our wedge-shaped cuts and propping the tree with wedges still does not guarantee that the tree is going to fall in the direction we want it to.
